The so-called “Big Beautiful Bill”, passed in the House by a 218‑214 vote, allocates $45 billion for immigration detention centers and about $30 billion for hiring more ICE agents, transportation, and facility maintenance—enabling detention capacity to reach at least 116,000 beds, according to NPR estimates. A report cited by The Guardian noted this increase is “about 36 times the IRS tax enforcement budget, 21 times the firearms enforcement budget, 13 times the drug enforcement budget, and eight times larger than the FBI’s.”

The bill’s passage sparked strong backlash from politicians, immigrant-rights groups, and civil liberties advocates. Sarah Mehta of the ACLU told Newsweek: “With over $170 billion, ICE will become the largest law enforcement agency in the U.S., with a budget larger than most of the world’s militaries….” Concerned individuals and their legal advisors—including immigration lawyers in Miami—are now analyzing how to use this information to safeguard basic rights.

The question remains how quickly and effectively the administration will deploy these funds, given that Alligator Alley facilities, consisting of heavy-duty tents and trailers without plumbing, could cost hundreds of millions annually to operate. In this context, having an immigration lawyer in Miami can help families understand the real impact and legal options under these changes.

Be very careful!

Beware of notaries, immigration consultants or anyone who is not qualified and prepared in these matters. Always seek the advice and services of an immigration attorney for your immigration processes and procedures.
